ANGEL M RODRIGUEZ RIVERA, MD, FACS

Specialist in General Surgery and Sub-Specialist in Complex Surgical Oncology 


My goal is to provide holistic care utilizing the most up to date and advanced treatment options for patients in Puerto Rico.

I am a Board Certified Surgeon with additional training and experience in the multidisciplinary approach to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of cancer patients. I obtained a medical doctor degree from Ponce School of Medicine and also hold a B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. I completed my General Surgery training at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, in affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA where I served as Chief Resident. I completed my training with a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at the Society of Surgical Oncology Training Program: McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, QC, where I also served as Chief Clinical Fellow.

I presently serve as the Director of adult surgical services at the San Jorge Children and Women's Hospital and as the Chair of the department of surgery of San Juan Bautista School of Medicine. I am an active member of several professional societies related to the care and treatment of surgical and cancer related diseases. I am involved in the fight against cancer and serve as an "AD HOC" reviewer for various medical journals including The Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer. My research has been published in several medical journals including The Annals of Surgical Oncology, Journal of Laparoendoscopic & Advanced Surgical Techniques, Surgical Endoscopy, Minerva Chirurgica and Surgical Oncology. I have also written several chapters related to the surgical and medical treatment of various malignancies.
